As a rule, the coldest plug you can run(without fouling), will give the best power. If you run a lot of stop/go traffic in town, you might go for an extended tip plug(assuming you dont have plug/piston clearance issues). The extended tip will run hotter around town, & when you get out on the open road, it will run like a colder plug. if you have an eng that uses a little oil, a slightly hotter plug will burn cleaner. Thats all pretty general, but as a rule, I would start out with a factory type plug in a stock or mild build, & play from there. Best of luck....  L
