Rebuilt Holley's are what you want to watch out for. Metering blocks get worped and bolts get stretched. Also, they are still sand casted carburetors so there is always a chance that there could be a small burr somewhere which makes it easier to clog. I've had a couple that I have rebuilt and they worked but I could never get them tuned as fine as I wanted. They also seemed to need constant tuning.

Running a Barry Grant speed demon with 4 corner idle adjustment, billet metering blocks and a billet base plate. Much more tunable. Have not had one problem with it.

Rebuilt Q-jets if they're done right can perform great w/o any problems.
