I see 2 problems with that... if it is chrome, then I'll bet it is chrome on the inside too. It's a PITA when the chrome flakes get in the carb. I've had it happen a few times.
Also, there is no reason in the world to run the fuel so close to the engine (heat source). It's just askin for trouble. (vapor lock trouble... not fire trouble)
