Re: Federal regulations on 2007+ diesel engines

In MD we already have ULSD in our county fleet fuel sites. The new Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel will be available everywhere. The 2007 and up vehicles have to comply with the new emissions regulations and it will be illegal to fuel them with the old fuel. The new fuel will work in all diesel powered vehicles. It will be much like the switch to E 10 unleaded. You may notice a slight decrease in power and fuel mileage, but in most cases it should be un noticeable. It is also advised that you change your fuel filter shortly after changing to the new fuel, as it has scrubbing properties and will break loose scale, etc. from inside the fuel system. I have a fleet of 1000 vehicles here in Harford County and we recently switched to the ULSD without incident, and with no driver complaints. About one third of our fleet is diesel powered. There will be a small sticker on the diesel pumps to let you know you are using ULSD. Hope that helps everyone, let me know if you have any more Questions. PM me, because I am mainly on the 67-72 site.
