I spent all day Saturday with my wife at The Day at the Drags, sponsored by the Kontinentals out of Austin. A whole day of drag racing limited to pre-1964 vehicles. The Kontinentals are into traditional hotrods, not the streerod/Boy Coddington/covered in billet look, so there was a lot of really cool stuff. There were a lot of really interesting cars racing, and running a lot of engines you don't often see. There were several hemis, flatheads, straight sixes, nailheads, and the more common engines.

It was held at Temple Academy Dragway, AKA Little River. It is an old track that is much different than what I am used to. The stands are covered in some areas, and the track is lined with a lot of old trees, so you actually get shade. The track is only about 6 or 8 feet from the stands, so you get a good close look at the cars, and it is LOUD! An excellent way to spend the day.
