87 was the first year for tbi in trucks, 86 would be a carb engine but i'd make sure it was a 350 first most 86 trucks had the 305 unless it was a 3/4 ton or a ton truck, the 86 350 would have had small valves more than likely, it could have 882s' i imagine which are 76 cc 194, 150 valves and those can be made fairly decent, but if its a driver yes it will work only thing is to be correct you will have to use the short water pump because it will have the long pump hope that helps
