With about 20 years in the glass business, I can tell you it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove the windshield unbroken from a 67-72 Chevy/GMC without cutting the rubber, because of the design of the curve at the top corners. The other glass (like your back window)is tempered glass, and is much stronger than float glass. The windshield is laminated safety glass- it's just two pieces of float glass with a layer of plastic sandwiched in between, and it will break much, much more easily.
