I had that Ign Sw short problem on my '68 stepside. I replaced the ignition switch connector assembly with a pigtail [p/n 36-0614] from LMC. Cost about 18 bucks. Wire guage sizes and color code were correct. I used crimp connectors and bound it up with silicon vulcanizing hi-temp tape.
