I'm not an off-roader so I don't know firsthand about the problem, but I bought a Performer Carb from a guy who was running a Chevy small block in a Jeep Wrangler. He bought the Carb new and said he tried everything he could to get it to run well on the trails. He finally gave up and put the Quadrajet back on. He seemed knowledgeable and said he wanted the Edelbrock so he could add some horses, but it just wouldn't "Perform"
on the hills. He said the Quad sacrificed some power, but he was able to climb any incline without problems. And I got a helluva deal on a barely used carb.! Hope this helps.
