Tailights? nope, only headlights, 87 'Burb...

My wife noticed a burning smell, and next thing you know, My lower dash coutesy lamp goes ON with the headlights, off when dome lamp clicked on, and ONLY headlights for external lighting. No dash lights, tail, side, etc!
What the heck happenned? I'll try change the light switch tomorrow, but havn't touched anything. My trailer harness was changed two weeks ago, I'll check it for a short. I HATE wiring! But I have a test lamp, and spare parts... Thx, Andrew
