Getting to 34-36 degrees total timing requires a degreed balancer or adjustable timing light, and you need increase RPM until all the mechanical is in and then adjust to have it all in by 3000 RPM or so. That's a performance tune...and a bit beyond where we're at in this troubleshooting process IMHO
