Mine did the exact same thing. When gas tank was close to empty something was rattling around when you went around a corner. When I rebuilt the truck and removed the gas tank and tipped it upside down out came the culprit . . . the center of a locking gas cap. Apparently someone punched it out at one time and let if fall into the tank.
