My '81 started out in life with a wimpy 305, TH350 tranny, and 3.42 gears. In '96, I converted it over to a 6.2L diesel, 700R4 tranny, and a few years later, installed the 4.10 gears.

I'll email ya some more info on the tranny swap.

My '81 averages 19 mpg. Not too shabby for a 3/4 ton truck, eh?
