I think he is correct, but get it and the rod and try it. I think you can use the bracket off your truck onto the newer master cylinder and your old rod. I just used a 3/4 ton booster from a 72 that way it is all the same except the 3/4ton have a dual diaphram (which is why I swapped, dual diaphram=better stopping with less peddle pressure)
