Re: big block in a 2wd 67

Been helping a friend of mine do the same thing to his 67 sw shortbed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=223504 The tops of the framerails needed to be cut back a little here & a lot there. 68-71 BB stands are "clearanced" from the factory with the dimple on the top for the exhaust manifold. The 72 BB stands are altogether different. 73+ stands are the same for BB or SB. Tell him to save himself a lot of work and look for a set of 72 BB frame stands(insert flame here). The 68-71 BB stands are more readily available but the motor mounts are A LOT more money. I don't have any personal experience with the 73+ stands but I have heard that they go in with a drill and will allow you to run the later clamshell style mounts as the 72 BB stands. My friend attempted to use(albeit DID use) SBC stands and had a nightmare trying to get headers to fit. After a lot of cutting, welding, cussing and crying(not to mention pulling the motor quite a few times!!!), he got them to work(but he did put a stout chain on it too just incase the sh!t hit the fan. He also is running the later long waterpump and has issue's putting a belt on the crank pulley.
