If you actually spend money on a set of glass packs, you will get good performance accompanied with good sound. You buy cheap "cherry bombs", and that is exactly what you have. You get what you pay for.

13 Years ago, I spent $100.00 (employee cost, NAPA) on a set of glass packs, and had dual exhaust put on my Nova. To this day, she purs like a kitten at an idle, and when you mash on the gas, she has a throaty sound.

I am actually due for new exhaust on my 72' p/u. It will take a pretty amazing muffler to pull me away from quality glass packs.
