i just put the carb back on, and she fired up on the first crank!!! im astounded that i rebuild a qjet on my first try, but i feel like ive passed a litmus test, and i DO have what it takes to restore a vehicle!
now i just need to figure out how to smooth her out, and ill be able to drive around a bit. i had some trouble with the secondaries intake flaps, but i found a carb shop about 3 miles from my apt, and they had a ton of qjets laying around. they wernt really in the spare parts business, but i talked the guy out of a spring-return for the secondaries, for $5 (i needed it, and i wanted to make sure i left with it!).
i actually had it on and running earlier today, but with the secondaries stuck open. it would fire, but would only run wide open and then die when i let off. now, it starts and almost idles, but then dies. i need to so some reading on what to do with the mixtures, and then im set!
