I have a 1980 that originally had a 350 diesel in it.. It had a 350 turbo tranny behind it and it was one of those tranny's that was generic. What I mean is it had all the gm bolt patterns on it.. I have had a olds, buick, and chevrolet motor in this truck all with the same tranny.. To my knowledge all pickups like this that came with the 350 diesel has this same tranny.. The main difference in converting between olds and chevrolet is the fuel pump and a/c unit will be on the other side..
