You are correct, "HID" refers to the Bulb housing or "lamp", The type of bulb is dependant on your application. What you want to look for are lights that a "diamondbacks" these light housings already have the placement of the "reflector cap" this allows the light to bounce off a mirror to the back of the housing, which is lined with different style mirror pieces reflecting the light forward again. Yes, silverstar is a good brand and you will pay usually in the 20-30 dollar range for them. I have had them in my S-10 for 3 years and have no problems.
