So this is what I have been up too. I ran out of paint for the engine and wanted another coat for good messure. I went to a paint store closer to my house and brought the can with me for another custom mix job. The paint guys said "who sold you this? This won't hold up to heat for anything more than a trailor queen." He said he didn't have the ability to custom mix engine enamel. He gave me the name of a few other places in the vacinity and I was off for a second opinion. Well, his opinion was a popular one. It turns out that the paint the other guy sold me was not even the correct color!!!! I found the folks at Spaceage Painter's supply in Mesa to be much more helpful. This folks is what a $50 engine paint ordeal looks like.
I wasn't finished cleaning her up at his point. I did want to make sure I got all the paint off so it wouldn't destroy the high $ stuff that was going on next.

Sprung for POR 15 Engine Painting Kit.
