I had long tube headers on my 71 4x4 but had an automatic so no clutch linkage problems. JUST EXTREMELY LOUD!!
It also had glass packs on it though and that didn't help. I got ram horns and high flow mufflers now, still true duals, and it's so much more enjoyable to drive.
