It depends on the powerplant. With only 2 gears, a high torque engine is needed to make it scoot. The PG was a decent tranny in it's day. I would prefer a th350, far better box. But if I had a PG, I would beef up the bands and clutches. Dad had a 63 wagon with 327 and pg. Towed a teardrop trailer all over with it. Didn't have any problems with it until my sister and I started abusing it. It would do a one wheel burnout for a full city block and got 18 mpg.
