Jason...FED law says you can have a larger engine in there, as long as it was an angine available in that vehicle make/model when new. We all know a 305 was available in these trucks so it should be ok onless your local gov has added to the laws like Cali does.
While true, your pipes are not legal, I'd imagine once you fix them, you should be ok as long as the engine passes for 305 standards.
