If it leaks, probably should tear it out and rebuild it like I said in your other thread. If it needs repaired beyond what a seal could fix, I'd say trash it.

Make sure the gear teeth aren't chipped, the rollers from the bearings aren't getting jammed in the gear teeth and/or just loose and floating around inside the case, and make sure the gear oil isn't silver. Mine was all of the above after it went poof. It's also a good time to check the splined drive collar between the output of the tranny and the input of the transfer case now...if it's about to let go (splines worn off) you'll need to find a new one, and they are a little bit different than the 205 piece, but you could probably use one.

Oh, and if you go to take it off and it's giving you problems...there is a "hidden" bolt holding the adapter to the transfer case itself. You have to remove the little side cover to get to it. This bugged the crap out of me when I tore mine apart.
