The lower joints can be "manually" replaced i.e. big hammer. You should be able to rent a ball joint press from the local parts store which makes the installation easier. To do it manually, remove the steering knuckle from the lower bj. Support the control arm at the outer edge, remove the grease boot and using a big hammer, drive the bj out striking it on the lip sticking up above the control arm. To install, place the new joint up through the hole then support the control arm under the new ball joint allowing considerable weight to be applied. Next, using something blunt, drive the control arm down over the ball joint. Install new zerk, dust boot and steering knuckle.
