Are you removing the A-arms? I tried the above method (to an extent) and ended up ruining a ball joint, buying another, and using a press at my uncle's shop. Not saying it can't be done, just saying I screwed it up. To me, it would be worth borrowing/renting a press. Top ones are easy, grind out old rivets, install new with bolts. Be carefull removing the ball joints with the spring!
