I'm saying you could try running a 1.5" pipe from your exhaust manifold out to the back bumper and skip any kind of muffler. Try it before forking out the dough for the headers. You could probably do it yourself for not much money. Order the pipe from JC Whitney. You can get assorted elbows and hangers at AutoZone or Kragen.
I've got a 292 with long tube headers and 1.5" dual pipes out to the back. Sounds bad-ass but, the long tubes on a lowered truck really suck. I can't even get in my own driveway 'cause they scrape too bad. Just another good reason to spend a little more and get the cast iron if you absolutely must have headers.
Hey Elky, what motor are you wanting to split the manifold on? I got you confused with the person starting this thread. You have a 230 also?
