as far as leaving the windows down... there is no need for that at all.
climb out the window, reach in and roll it up as far as you can, then, reach in through the wing vent and roll it up the rest of the way, then flip the wing vent shut. It won't latch, so when you get done towing it, you pop it open, reach in and roll down the window.
If your drivers side window regulator is junk, then crawl out the passenger side.
