just my thaughts. keep the heat down. they warp very very easily. i smoothed a cowl about 2 years ago for a buddys 71. lol well i shaved two. the first one got hot some how. i stiched welded it and really took my time i thaught , grinded all my welds smooth to look at my master piece and lol . it was about an inch higher in the middle. so we opt to try it again ,it turned out really nice. just a lite coat of metal glaze and we were done
