first off let me say, welcome from a fellow Wisconsinite!
second...how the hell did you score a truck like THAT in our state...for 400?? wow. i'm impressed...haha.
and about the floor shift. sometimes the shift linkage in the column would wear out, as most mechanical things do. so instead of fixing the linkage, they'd put in a floor shift.
plus it's "cool" to have a floor shifter, or something? maybe?
Oh, and about the manuals...don't really have any. maybe a basic Chilton's or Motor manual, but other then that, you're probably at one of the best resources around.
