Weird Problem With '02 Suburban

Just wondering if anyone has ever ran across this before. Our office manager has an '02 Suburban with the 5.3L V8 and around 80,000 miles. Recently it started a strange noise when reving the engine, upon letting off the accelerator it sounded like the fan was hitting the shroud. We found the fan clutch had some slack so we replaced it, but the noise did not change. After checking it closer, we found the a/c belt tensioner was jumping up and down, hitting the transmission cooler lines. We checked the tensioner and found it was bad, so we put a new tensioner and belt. It still does the same thing. He said he talked to someone on the net who replaced their tensioner several times, and finally replaced the compressor which seems to have cured the problem. They even mentioned a Technical Service Bulletin for the problem. The compressor cools great and makes absolutley no noise, but could it be bad anyway? Any help or replies would be greatly appreciated.
