I had a Milodon single idler gear on a 68 Camaro I had. It lasted about a week. You could hardly hear the motor running once the exhuast was done, just the yowl of the gear drive. I was 17 at the time and hated it which should tell you how obnoxious it was... As far as a belt, it is a low-mileage replacement part. They are quiet which is one of the goals of new cars and why most imports use belts. Our Bimmer motor was redesigned in the E36 with a chain instead of a belt which is fine by me, I hate chaning them. Just buy a good chain and be done with it. Save your money for something that will add real performance and not just noise. Depending on the motor, gear drives can transmit crankshaft harmonics to the cam and valvetrain and cause failures in rare instances.
