I wash mine out every year before putting my truck away for the winter.

What some people dont realize is that there are little drain holes at the very bottom of the cowl that SHOULD be kept clean (same thing goes for your doors)

What I do is take a hose and turn it on full blast and point it in the cowl shooting water down thru the vent till the water runs clear and flows nicely. The water should appear to be coming from underneath the truck near the back of the front fenders.

This should be done regularly even if you have a screen or whatever to stop big stuff from going in. Little stuff can still plug the drains.
