If it has a normal sump volume and a large (1-quart) filter, then 5 quarts (regardless of the dipstick) is about right. If it's a deep sump pan, then 5 quarts isn't enough, 7 is probably about right.
Whatever you do, you don't want the oil level high enough to get whipped into a foam by the rotating crank and rod journals.
