Re: Putting 6x9 speakers behind the seat
The only GM pieces I have seen were for 4X10 speakers, but that does not mean they did not offer anything else. The 6X9 brackets were widely produced at one time by the aftermarket, but I have never been able to locate any new ones. I have a pair that I found after a couple of years of searching junkyards.
A friend was able to mount 6X9 speakers to the factory 4X10 mounts by reversing the left and right brackets. That repositioned the speakers enough to allow more room for the larger 6X9 magnets to clear the cab. He just bolted the 6X9 speakers to the 4X10 holes as best he could.
I talked to a stereo installer on another board several years ago. He said he made them from 3 pieces of MDF. There ws the one that the speaker mounted to that screwed to the side and back of the cab at 45 degree angles along with top and bottom plugs to seal up the opening.
