A few years ago there was a yellow '69 that was built in CA., by a guy last name of McPherson. He drove it to FL. One of the subtlest restyling tricks that was done was to incorporate the wheel arches on all four corners, from an '88-98.

After seeing the truck that had 67-72 wheel arches on both ends, including the later sportside bed, I'm of the opinion that the later arches look better. Since the sportside bedsides are fiberglass, I'd change the arches on the front fenders and go for it. It won't look bad. The contour on the side of the bed aligns very nicely with the lower contours of the cab.

On this body style, they don't look bad. On a '60-66, they suck.

As for the comment on '57's, for example, that was back in the day when styling cues called for smaller wheel openings. I have an old (67) issue of Honest Charley's Speed Shop catalog, showing fender skirts on one of our trucks. You know that sucks.
