If I remember correctly these trucks(64+) have a 8.75 12 bolt truck diff, plenty heavy duty. These were the same through early 70's but they get wider in the 70's. Since you want to keep the 6 lug pattern I would just beaf it up some if you're worried apart breaking old parts. I run an Auburn posi myself with new moser axles(they were worn at seals and one had bad splines).
