Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?
Back in "the day" I owned a Pinto (yeah, I hear you). After reading in Hot Rod and other magazines, and based on articles they had done with stuff from IECO, I ordered some stuff. One of the items I ordered was to have included jets for the carburetor, plugs, points and condenser. On the side of the box, written in grease pencil was: "We didn't find any jets in this box. We used the ones you sent us". Guess what? There were three different jets in the box. Three. The carb needed two. None were right for the carb I had. Thus began a series of phone calls. One of them was to a guy, last name of Scarborough, supposedly their sales manager. He told me to take all of the stuff that they had sent (points, plugs, jets, condenser) and send them back. The plugs had already been installed but he said that didn't matter....send them back. A couple weeks later, I get a shipment. New box. Old stuff. Spark plugs were all broken and shipped back to me. Now, I'm furious. The only excuse they could offer was that it had been raining (Los Angeles area). Big whoop.
After I let loose a tirade that included every form of every four-letter word I could think of and even some that were made up on the spot over a course of ten minutes, I felt better but was still out the parts that they screwed me out of. That one incident made me very leery of such businesses, but that was all before Al Gore invented the internet.
The people I am leery of now have merchandise listed on eBay. I'm sure there are good folks on it, but my only experience was bogus, too. Misrepresented merchandise issue. No recourse. No more business done with him, either.
