Interesting discussion on fender skirts....The 71 Burb we've been working on for the last year had steel fender skirts installed by the dealer when purchased new in 1971 (There is, however, no option code on the glovebox door for this). The original owner said skirts were ordered from the dealer when new; they have the trim installed / factory clips. A black burb with black skirts??? Sounds like it was a funeral home vehicle!! YUP, IT WAS!! now has a total of 49,950 miles. BTW: the skirts have been removed and reside under the bed....don't think we'll put them back on with the 4" rear drop and Dunlops. This is the only set of steel fender skirts I have ever seen installed on one of our trucks.........BTW: this Burb had a large sheet metal insert covered in black vinyl (with Landau Irons installed) over the large rear side windows on each side (it is very evident that the hearse conversion had been locally fabricated...easy to tell from the installation method)....kinda' different though.
