Larry, I did the in the cab tank removal on my ' 71 LWB 4x4 and perhaps can give a tip or two. I had considered a 2" lift but tryed a differant angle which worked real well. Also wondered about lifting the bumpers back to a stock posistion. Scrounged some parts from the local salvage yard, local plumbing shop, a beer or two to a friend with a torch and wound up with a fuel filler thru the driver's side wheel hump. Fills great with no back flow and is easily accesable. Wife did not really like the idea of needing a step stool for her to get in the truck so to keep piece in the family and be able to spend some more on the truck tried to keep her happy and me satisfied.
