One other safety thing. I know our vintage doesn't have the removable tailgates.... but I wouls seriously consider removing the tailgate during transport if it is upside down on the back of your truck. There was a death just a few years ago in MN where a tailgate dropped off a bed during transport. It bounced into the windshield of the car following on the freeway and the driver didn't live.
