resealing 350 oilpan and th350 tranny pan - Questions

I will be resealing my 350's oilpan this spring, also need to dump the th350 tranny pan and change oil/filter.

What all is involved in resealing the engine oil pan? Do I just use a silicone sealant, and which brand? Also, are there any components in the way that have to be removed, or can I just unbolt the pan with no issues?

As for the tranny pan, are there still kits available that include the paper gasket and filter? I am going to mount a tranny temp sending unit on my pan, while I have it off.

Have not done this resealing of the engine/tranny before, and want to make sure that I do not overlook any thing or use the wrong sealant. I only want to do it once.
