Actually, it's the exact opposite. Single walls bold down through the top of the bed. There are threaded inserts in the bed rails. If you have interior panels, it makes them easier to remove.

double wall tops show more sag and can have a tendency to split at the seam. Dobule walls are also heavier, but I don't know if there is really enough weight difference to really notice since they are both heavy and awkward to handle.
