The newer 6.0L's have 367hp and 380 or so? ft/lbs of torque and GM has even "built" something called "torque management" into the software for the trucks so you can't burn the tranny up. Basically, it's a GM band aid for using a high HP/tq engine with an older "weak" tranny. The 4L60 and 4L80's are great dependable trannys, but they weren't meant for high hp/tq abuse. When they were fist designed the 5.3L only had 290hp and around 310ft lbs of torque. The new 6l60's are a MUCH more stout tranny that can take more hp/tq, the 6.2L is an example
