Just to add to Joey's post, check out the following past thread (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=269636). I agree that it is 'bably a faulty connection or the sending unit. If those check out ok, then it might be the fuel gauge. But, you can check it as well, as described in this past thread (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=179942).
