If I remember correctly, you press in on the cover to gain access to the retainer, I think I had to use a large pry par for leverage (it was in the truck when I did this). There is a large retainer ring, (like a circlip that is used for the piston pin in small 2 stroke engines) which you can take out using a pair of small screwdrivers. Once that is out the cover should just pull out. You will probably need a new o-ring as well to get a good seal when it is reassembled. Good luck!
