Actually there are some awesome leaf spring kits that don't totally break the bank, and still achieve 15+ inches of travel!
Here is my daily driver, been this way for around 5+ years now-2001 2wd Silverado-Deaver long travel rear leaf's, 4" fabricated knuckles, some crappy coils, and Fabtech upper arms. New trucks aren't built like old ones, I'm on front hub/bearing assembly number 7($300+ each). FIberglass fenders and bedsides, self built bumper.
Oh yea, and plan on spending at least 1k per desert trip for replacement parts!
