If what you're after is "sound", then you don't need better heads - that's for making power, not just noise
Agree that the "quarter/half/full" race stuff is meaningless.
It's actually OVERLAP that makes lope; this is the time that the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. You can find overlap by EC - IO; Exhaust Closing - Intake Opening. Anything in the 70s or higher is going to give you "lope", depending on displacement, etc.
The problem with high overlap is that it's generally an unstreetable cam for duration, lift, etc. as it's made for high RPM. CompCams "Thumpr" line are cams that have significant overlap, but reasonable duration and lift for the street. A noisemaker.
