Are you talking about the thermal valves? One is orange and one is a pale green?
The help correctly control the EGR valve, your torque converter lockup (if it has it), the air valve on the air cleaner horn, and sometimes vacuum secondaries on the carb. They also control the Air Injective Reaction System (better known as the smog pump, but your being a 1975 might not have it).
If you can live without all of the above, you most certainly can remove them.
