That is exactally what I was thinking on the chop, don't want it to stand out so much but make people scratch their heads. The main reason I would go for the bed cover is that trucks with step notches look like crap with the cover sticking up so high in the bed or that is what I think. My gas tank is going to have to come up thru the bed floor a little, the battery is going to be back there, etc. I was thinking about coming off the top of the notch to the tailgate with a cover to hide that stuff. I kind of see what your are saying about the storage compartment, that could be made with a none removeable lid and have a trunk more or less from about the rear wheels back with a cover that will open up to the gas tank and the other crap that will be back there. Humm
